Kartik Aaryan gave a career best performance with Chandu Champion. Recently, the actor spoke with Mashable India, where he discussed a number of topics relating to his acting career, upcoming films, early days of struggle, the long journey to fame, and also about India’s win at the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Kartik spoke about watching the final India vs. South Africa match while shooting for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 where the crew halted the shoot so they can enjoy the final overs of the game.
Speaking about the same, Kartik said, “It was a very exciting match. In fact, it was like a dream. Last night, the way the match played out, we were all holding our breath. Everything changed in the last four or five overs. The way Suryakumar (Yadav) took that catch, that changed everything. Jasprit Bumrah too, and the way Virat Kohli batted, everything about the match was a team effort. They played like a real team, and won. They became World Champions. Very, very well deserved. In fact, last night I was shooting for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, but actually we stopped the shoot and watched the match on our phones. For the last half an hour, we shot nothing. And as soon as we won, the victory songs came on, from Chak De! India, and from Chandu Champion.”
Kartik also spoke about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announcing their retirement. He was sad about it, but was hoping to see them in ODI and Test cricket. Kartik said, “It’s sad that they’re retiring. It (T20) won’t be the same without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. They brought so much character to the team, and the way they have managed the team, the way Rohit Sharma really took some bold decisions, so it’s unreal. We can’t think of a team without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, so it’s disheartening. But hopefully we’ll be seeing them in the other formats of the game, but I wish they were there in T20 as well.”
