Mirzapur S3 Review: Ali Fazal’s Aggressive Performance Shines Amid Pankaj Tripathi’s Somber Act

By admin Jul5,2024

Mirzapur’s season 3 is finally here after the devastating end of the previous season. With Kaleen Bhaiya injured and missing, with Munna dead the power ends up in the hands of Guddu Pandit. There are many other players behind the season but politics once again takes the forefront in the new episodes. As Guddu finally reaches the original goal of taking control of Mirzapur’s throne, the makers explore what’s beyond. Meanwhile, Guddu keeps the story grounded in Mirzapur with his personal journey.

The new season picks up right after the end of the previous season. As Munna’s dead body is recovered, everyone begins to question the absence of Kaleen Bhaiya. However, Guddu takes control of the city immediately and attempts to kick off the guns and drugs empire. But not all are in favour of Guddu, he still has to prove himself to the other existing Bahubalis in the area. The season explores how despite reaching his goal, he still isn’t able to keep the power for himself.

Guddu often loses himself and his next goal in this season. We watch him fall lower in the eyes of the people around him and the audience. While his aggression is what pushed him forward and got him as far as it did, season 3 is about a new phase for him. A similar change can be seen for Kaleen Bhaiya as well. With Munna out of the picture, Pankaj Tripathi’s character also takes a step back. He isn’t the king anymore but turns into something of a Kingmaker. Without the need for power, Kaleen Bhaiya still manages to play the game right from behind the scenes.

The new season comes with some of the biggest twists and turns. Each episode ends with a cliffhanger leaving the character in some sort of dread including Golu played by Shweta Tripathi and Isha Talwar. The two also go through their journeys in the background, dealing with consequences. While Shweta is more active with her choices, Isha is more reactive, but both have a strong presence on screen despite being surrounded by more aggressive characters who continue to question them.

At the risk of spoiling the plot of the new season, the show mainly explores what’s next for Guddu. He isn’t the ideal leader, as refuses to use his brain and as Sharad said, it doesn’t suit him when he does. But in this season he has to as he is left with no one by his side, and the loneliness creeps in far deeper than the previous seasons. Guddu’s family also has to deal with the aftermath of helping him escape the cops. But the season ends with Guddu at his lowest and everyone ready to take advantage of the situation again.

Overall, Mirzapur never disappoints, it may take its time but as the plot unfolds more is revealed which makes for an exciting wait for another season. The first scene in episode two sets the tone for the season, a slow experience that leaves many hints for what is to come and ends with a great bang.
