Where was Kareena Kapoor Khan the night her husband Saif Ali Khan was severely injured while fighting off the burglar? Why did their eight-year-old son Taimur Ali Khan accompany him to the hospital during the wee hours of January 16, and not the actress herself? What exactly happened that night? These are some of the questions that the netizens have been constantly demanding answers of on social media. The Jewel Thief actor has now addressed the same during a recent interview.
Confirming that he is safe and recovering well. The 54-year-old actor opened up about how his family was left pretty shaken and deeply emotional after the attack. Recalling the incident, during an interview with Bombay Times, he revealed that his and Kareena’s elder son Taimur innocently asked him, “Are you going to die?” Before being rushed to the nearby Lilvati Hospital, in an auto, he consoled him and told him, “No.”

Khan went on to add that his older kids, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan stood by his side throughout the entire ordeal, despite being emotional over his condition. Talking about his wife’s reaction, he revealed that the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham actress was ‘frantically’ trying to call people for help, however, no one was awake at the time. Saif went on to add that he calmly looked at her and assured her that he is fine and “I’m not going to die.”
On the other hand, his youngest, Jehangir Ali Khan gave him a ‘plastic sword’ for his protection. Quoted by the Free Press Journal, the Devara: Part 1 actor said, “Jeh said, ‘Keep this by your bed for the next time the chor comes’. He says, ‘Geeta (househelp) saved Abba and Abba saved me’.”

Shedding light on what actually happened that night, the head of the Pataudi family revealed that he had stayed back at the house since he had work in the morning and his wife was out for dinner. He revealed, “Kareena had been out to dinner, and I had some work in the morning, so I stayed in. She came back, we had a chat and went to sleep. After a while, the househelp rushed in and said – ‘There’s an intruder. There’s a guy in Jeh’s room with a knife asking for money.’ It was around 2 am, I could get the time wrong slightly, but it was late. Obviously, I kind of lost it, and went in there to see and I saw this guy holding (what I thought were) two sticks over Jeh’s bed – it was actually a hexa blade.”
He went on to add, “So he had a knife in each hand and a mask on. It was a surreal scene. And something just kind of took over and I just grabbed him. I ran and pulled him down, and then we were wrestling. He was thumping me as hard as he could in my back, and it was just thuds.”
