By admin Mar10,2025

Over the years, Aamir Khan has made a name for himself in the Hindi film industry with his versatile performances and rightfully earned the title of Mr Perfectionist. He never shies away from sharing his opinions on the on-going trends and chatters in Bollywood. He recently attended a press conference of PVR-INOX’s Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar where he opened up about the struggles Hindi filmmakers are facing and mentioned that they have forgotten their roots.

Speaking at the event, a special film festival, which commemorates his contribution to the Indian cinema industry, he opened up about why South films are minting money whereas Hindi films seem to be struggling a lot. The session was reportedly moderated by veteran lyricist-screenwriter Javed Akhtar, who asked him why something like this is happening. Opening up about the same, the 59-year-old actor expressed that South filmmakers tap into their audience’s emotions and connect it to their story, which Hindi filmmakers are unable to do.

Mentioning how the Hindi filmmakers have “forgotten their roots,” Hindustan Times quoted Khan adding, “There are finer emotions, then there are baser emotions. Revenge is a strong emotion. But doubt is a light emotion; it’s a less attractive emotion. Anger, love, revenge. We (Bollywood) are choosing to talk about different aspects of life. We’re not sticking to the broader strokes.”

Aamir went on to reveal that once multiplexes started booming in India, the film industry started having a perception of how “the audience is changing” and the ones who come to watch the films in a multiplex are “different.” He added how that conversation very strongly started growing.

“Then, there was a certain genre of film that was being made, which was called multiplex films. This is a multiplex film, and this is a single-screen film. The South films are what we typically used to call single-screen films, mass, very hard-hitting, very broad strokes. I think maybe the Hindi filmmakers tried to go more towards multiplex films,” the head honcho of the production banner, Aamir Khan Productions concluded.

On the work front, Aamir Khan will be collaborating next with Javed Akhtar for his upcoming production Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol. He will be next seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, which is said to be a sequel of his film Taare Zameen Par. According to media reports, the film is based on the sports Spanish film Champions, where a basketball coach is sentenced community service to coach basketball to the intellectually disabled, for driving under the influence. The upcoming sports drama is directed by R. S. Prasanna.
