Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, best known for his iconic portrayal of Shaktimaan, recently revealed the reasons behind his decision to avoid Kapil Sharma’s popular chat show. In a candid conversation on Siddharth Kannan’s podcast, Mukesh Khanna recalled an incident at an awards ceremony where he and Kapil crossed paths.
The Shaktimaan star had received an award in a supporting role and noticed Kapil sitting next to him during the event. Khanna expressed his disappointment at Kapil’s alleged lack of basic courtesy during the encounter.
“Now, in our industry, even if we have not worked with each other, we ask each other, ‘Kaise hai aap sir.’ Forget my seniority, he (Kapil) kept sitting next to me for ten minutes but he didn’t even say ‘hello!’ he said.
He further compared this incident to his interactions with Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, stating that although they have never worked together, he always makes an effort to exchange pleasantries when they meet.

While denying claims that he was ever approached by the Kapil’s show’s producers, Mukesh Khanna asserted that even if an invitation had been extended, he would have declined it due to his disapproval of the show’s format.
Mukesh Khanna speculated that Kapil Sharma might have refrained from inviting him to his show out of “ego” or “shame.” He emphasised that Kapil’s silence at the awards ceremony reflected a lack of professional etiquette, which Khanna considers essential in the entertainment industry.
The veteran actor reiterated his disdain for the humor showcased on The Kapil Sharma Show, describing it as inappropriate and often crossing boundaries of decency. According to Khanna, the show’s content are “obscene” and “below the belt.”
