Sam Bahadur Box Office: Vicky Kaushal Starrer Sees Massive Dip In Collections On Monday As Animal Continues Reign

By admin Dec5,2023

Vicky Kaushal’s war biopic, Sam Bahadur, hit the theaters on December 1, bringing to life the legendary tale of India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw. Despite facing tough competition from the blockbuster Animal, the film managed a decent opening but has now experienced a significant drop in collections on its first Monday.

Upon its release, Sam Bahadur garnered attention for its portrayal of the war veteran’s remarkable journey, played by Vicky Kaushal, alongside Sanya Malhotra as his wife Silloo Manekshaw and Fatima Sana Shaikh as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film collected an impressive Rs 25.50 crore in its opening weekend, showcasing its initial appeal to the audience.

However, as the week began, Sam Bahadur witnessed a substantial drop of 66% in collections on its first Monday. The film added Rs 3.50 crore to its overall earnings, bringing the four-day net India total to Rs 29.05 crore, according to industry tracking platform Sacnilk.com. The Monday dip is a common trend in the industry, but the extent of the drop has raised eyebrows.

The stiff competition posed by Ranbir Kapoor’s action-packed Animal is undeniable, as the Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directed film continues to dominate the box office with a staggering Rs 356 crore worldwide gross in its first three days. Animal has proven unstoppable, securing its place as a massive blockbuster.

While Sam Bahadur initially generated buzz, it hasn’t received an overwhelmingly positive response from audiences and critics. Many have noted that the film, directed by Meghna Gulzar, focuses on multiple anecdotes from Sam Manekshaw’s life, missing an in-depth exploration of the man behind the uniform.
